Director of Programs

The Denver Urban Debate League (DUDL) is hiring a Director of Programs. This is a part time, hourly position which
will require an average of 60 hours per month, with the possibility of increased hours in the future. Hours will vary
from week to week depending on project flow. Schedule is flexible contingent on events and deadlines, and
employee will have the opportunity to work remotely, as well as in an office setting. The Director of Programs will
report directly to the Board of Directors and support the programs and operations of the DUDL. Candidates for this
position should be committed to improving education in the Denver community, with an emphasis on increasing
diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ideal candidates should have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications,
experience with Google Suite, and experience implementing Speech and Debate Tournaments in person and
online. Experience working for a non-profit, or educational setting preferred but not required. Job duties generally
include:

Programmatic Development and Support
  • Coordination of DUDL’s Speech and Debate Education Programs. This includes 6 DUDL workshops and/or tournaments, supporting member schools in coaching, research and resources development, volunteer recruitment, tournament administration.
  • Lead tournament logistics and support, including transportation and meal acquisition, trophies and supply ordering, coordinating support staff and volunteers, and additional duties as assigned.
  • Develop curriculum, lead special events, and launch new and existing programs.
  • Administrative Support of the DUDL in relation to programs and operations.
  • Budgeting and Invoicing for DUDL Program
  • Invoicing and Payment

​Communication & Marketing
  • Working with the Marketing Committee to set up monthly communication blasts to community,
  • students, and coaches
  • Supporting the marketing efforts to recruit and promote tournaments
  • Work with DUDL co-chairs to gather and elevate student stories for impact reporting
  • Work with DUDL data committees metrics for success and highlighting the DUDL impact

Community Partnerships:
  • Managing contracts and agreements with school districts and member schools
  • Responsible for programming assessment and reporting with partners and funders

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with student coaching
  • 5+ years of program management experience, including running speech and debate tournaments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Classroom management experience
  • Strong preference for candidates who have worked or volunteered with urban debate leagues
  • and understand the model and impact.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay for this position is $30 per hour
  • Flexible, hybrid schedule
  • Paid sick leave in accordance with the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act.
