The Denver Urban Debate League (DUDL) is hiring a part-time Programs and Operations Manager. This position will require working 50-120 hours per month. Weekly hours will vary depending on project flow. Hours will average 20-30 hours per week from September-April, and 5-15 hours per week May-August. Schedule is flexible contingent on events and deadlines. The Programs and Operations Manager will have the opportunity to set their own schedule and work remotely, as well as in an office setting. Applicants should be based in the Denver Metro Area. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter with the ability to work independently, and who is also able to take direction. The Programs & Operations Manager is a key player on our team and will have the opportunity to help grow the organization and bring innovative ideas to the table. The DUDL will work with the new Programs & Operations Manager to understand their interests and abilities to inform how they can best advance the overall mission of the organization. The Programs & Operations Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and support the programs and operations of the DUDL. Candidates for this position should be committed to improving education in the Denver community, with an emphasis on increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ideal candidates should have experience with light graphic and web design, basic accounting, community relations, and event planning. Experience working in a non-profit, or educational setting preferred. Experience in speech and debate education helpful, but not required. Tasks may include, but not be limited to:
Management of DUDL’s Speech and Debate Education Programs including program design and implementation. A large amount of this work will center around DUDL competitions and events, as well as daily support of DUDL’s school-based programs. This will include a heavy workload during competitions and events which happen 1-2 times per month in September-April. This includes managing school budgets, tournament registration, volunteer recruitment, tournament administration, arranging transportation and meals, ordering trophies, and coordinating support staff.
Administrative support of Executive Director. Operational support of the DUDL including invoicing, tracking payments, donor communication, and basic accounting.
Weekly Communication Blasts to Students and Coaches. Managing communication with external partners including school districts and administrators. Assistance with social media and website updates.
Support of special events and supplemental programs including fundraising events
Continuous program assessment with a priority on developing collaborative research initiatives with school district partners.
Design and implementation of new programming initiatives and curriculum, IE: Middle School Debate, Spanish Language Debate, Public Debates, Professional Development
