Cody joined the firm after spending two years negotiating telecom and software license agreements for a multinational technology company. He also was a mechanical design engineer designing mechanical/HVAC/plumbing systems for Lockheed Martin facilities and preparing bids for government contracts before attending law school. Cody works with clients regarding intellectual property, technology transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate operations and general business matters. |

Isabelle Evans
• Assistant City Attorney • Aurora City Attorney's Office Isabelle Evans is an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Aurora, where she serves as general counsel to the City's Fire Rescue Department and represents the City's public safety entities in civil litigation. Isabelle began her legal career as a judicial law clerk and was a prosecutor prior to joining the litigation team for the City of Aurora. Isabelle is a former debate competitor and coach and joined the DUDL Board of Directors in 2019. |
Marge Fisch
• Community Activist & Retired School Teacher Education is the key to social change and social justice. Prior to teaching at the middle school level in Jefferson County for 20 years, Marge has and continues to be an activist in civil rights and women’s issues. As a leader in a variety of non-profit organizations, she is able to pursue my mission of involvement with students at various levels of their education. From volunteering at the elementary level in an Aurora school, supporting debaters through DUDL and mentoring Metro State University future teachers, Marge hopes to make a difference. |
Jessica Galvan
• Secretary • AML Analyst • Promontory Financial Group Jessica Galvan is the first DUDL alumni to serve on the DUDL Board of Directors, where she lends her skills as secretary. She is a graduate of the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law, and has been admitted to practice law in the state of Colorado. Jessica hopes to practice law in the areas of anti-housing discrimination, criminal law, and family law. |
Elizabeth Hinde
• Dean • School of Education at Metro State University Elizabeth Hinde is Professor and Founding Dean of the School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Prior to coming to MSU Denver, she was the Director of the Division of Teacher Preparation at Arizona State University, which houses one of the largest teacher preparation programs in the country. Along with her work in teacher education, she specializes in social studies education. She is the author of over 50 publications concerning social studies education, curriculum issues, and teacher preparation. |
Jaclyn Lauer

As Treasurer, she oversees the recording of all financial activities related to the organization, financial statement preparation & reporting, and budget review. Marquess represented clients in all facets of labor and employment law before administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Colorado Civil Rights Division, as well as in state and federal courts. Larry is founding member of the Denver Urban Debate League and has been a part of the DUDL community continuously since the organization's creation. |

Will Trachman
• Senior Counsel to the Office for Civil Rights • Department of Education Office for Civil Rights Will Trachman is an attorney, a board member of DUDL, and a former debate coach for the Bay Area Urban Debate League. Presently he serves in the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. Previously, he served as General Counsel to the Douglas County School District, and as an employment law attorney at Littler Mendelson. He attended the University of California, Berkeley for undergraduate and law school, and clerked for the 10th circuit court of appeals in Albuquerque, New Mexico. |
Jia Meeks
• Policy Advisor and Associate • Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Jia Meeks is a policy advisor and associate working in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s state Government Relations group. As part of his practice, Jia advocates before governmental decision-makers as well as tracks and analyzes legislative and regulatory developments germane to clients’ interests. He received his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and his bachelor’s degree in public policy from the University of Colorado Denver. Jia is an alumnus of the debate team at Cherry Creek High School where he competed in public forum debate. |
